KSM Inside Look into the Regent Seven Seas Splendor
Regent Seven Seas Cruises: the crème de la crème of cruise ships with the most photogenic designs and aesthetics. Here at KSM, we keep an eye out for Instagrammable experiences – Regent definitely checks that box.
This year, the cruise line introduced its newest creation, the magnificent Regent Seven Seas Splendor. My husband and I recently enjoyed all of its glory on an inaugural sailing, and all I can tell you is cruising will never be the same. The Splendor is the sister ship to the Explorer, which launched during the summer of 2016. After the amazing experience we had on the Explorer four years ago, we were curious if Regent could find a way to raise the bar… And they did!
Whether you are interested in a high-end cruising experience or are simply curious as to what the most luxurious cruise ship in the world looks like, you’ve come to the right place.
STATEROOMS
A cabin, or “stateroom,” is another name for your room, and on the Regent, your room is called a “suite.” Suites include a double sink vanity, rain shower, bath tub, walk-in closet, L’Occitane products, sitting area and a private sea-facing balcony. The higher the price package, the better the room (size, amenities, etc).
We were greeted by a complimentary bottle of champagne and a customized bottle of Woodford Reserve. Did I mention the rooms comes with a 24/7 butler service? You can request a midday snack or another bottle of champagne at any time, and I highly recommend getting breakfast room service to enjoy on your balcony.
ENTERTAINMENT
On an inaugural sailing, a designated godfather or godmother makes an appearance to christen the ship, followed by a performance from an A-list celebrity. Our ears blessed with a private concert from Seal, who was as impressive as you can imagine by walking through the crowd, dancing with the fans and playing way past his 30-minute slot. God bless.
On a normal sailing, the 750-passenger ship offers after-dinner shows in its theater, opportunities to test your luck at the casino and lavish lounges with great cocktails and live music for those who simply want to relax.
P.S. the crew to passenger ratio is about 1:1 unlike the 3:1 on larger cruise ships. As a result, Regent is 3x the service, so you bet your glass will always be full
During the day, enjoy yourself at the saltwater pool or take a nap on the wonderful day beds. The ship also has a mini golf course, pickle ball and bocci courts, full-service spa with an infinity pool and a sauna, shops and (my favorite) cooking lessons at the culinary arts kitchen. Take some time to browse the incredible artwork throughout the ship, too.
DINING
French. Asian. Seafood. Steaks. Your dinner options are basically endless. Not only is the food yummy and the presentation picture-worthy, but the design of each restaurant is outstanding.
At the Compass Rose restaurant, guests can enjoy a grand seafood buffet consisting of a caviar station and ultra lavish dessert, all served on Versace dinnerware.
Dress code: For dinner, it’s business casual. Cocktail dresses or pant suits for women and a sport coat for men. During the day, I’d say it’s a mix of sophisticated casual. A tasteful top with chic shorts or a summer dress is perfect.
EXCURSIONS
My favorite part about cruising is you don’t have to spend time traveling from place to place while packing and unpacking every 2-3 days. Instead, you get to wake up in a new place every day or so while getting to relax and enjoy your vacation.
Regent does a great job of offering a wide variety of complimentary shore excursions. From swimming with the pigs, to exploring a hilltop village, to enjoying an exquisite wine tasting – it is totally up to you to choose whatever you are in the mood for!
If you are considering cruising, hope this made you want to give it a try. If you are a veteran, hope you get to splurge and enjoy the spectacular experience Regent’s Splendor offers. Be sure to tag me on Instagram in your picture-perfect photos on the Splendor.
