Here’s what’s in my hospital bag: Round Two

The first time I packed a hospital bag, I really didn’t know what I was getting myself into. I packed everything under the sun, thinking I was going to capture all sorts of moments. I still vividly remember Vince wheeling in a suitcase in one hand, with a garment bag (with pressed clothes) in the other.

With Leoni, I couldn’t quite comprehend the life change that was impending. Although she made a rather quick arrival, I felt unbelievably exhausted and overwhelmed following her birth, with no desire for any photos, or to leave the hospital bed. This time around, my goal was to bring the items I used and loved the most, and to be as compact as possible.

WHAT’S IN MY BAG FOR LABOR & DELIVERY

  1. Hospital Gown (best thing to pack as wearing something cute made me feel more like myself)

  2. Bedside Lotion, Lip Balm, Brush

  3. Phone Charger (extra long is best) and Portable Speaker

  4. Gifts for the Nurses (fine chocolates)

WHAT’S IN MY BAG FOR AFTER BABY’S ARRIVAL

  1. Pillow and Pillow Mist (for added relaxation)

  2. Toiletry Bag and Towels

  3. Leica and Polaroid Cameras

  4. Nursing-friendly Pajamas

  5. Nursing Bra and Nursing Pillow

  6. Peri Bottle and Disposable Undies (much more effective than the bottle and mesh pairs the hospital provides)

  7. Going Home Outfit (I prefer a loose sweat set)

WHAT I’M BRINGING FOR BABY

  1. Pacifier (this is a personal choice, but don’t let the lactation specialists scare you — getting some rest is crucial!)

  2. Sleepsack Swaddle and Swaddle Blanket (Aden & Anais are my favorite)

  3. Portable White Noise

  4. Take-Home Outfit & Hat

  5. Blanket for Ride Home

Hope this helps! Good luck, mamas :)
